Texas A&M University in College Station is home to more than 50,000 students and gets thousands of visitors every year. With over 5,200 acres to explore and new construction projects putting up new buildings every year, navigating around campus can be a challenging. With this information in mind, the design challenge is to make navigating around the Texas A&M campus easier for both visitors and locals.

Research

Research showed that many students, faculty members, and visitors - both familiar with campus and completely new - struggle with campus navigation and parking on a daily basis. A big problem was available resources for on campus navigation are poorly designed, difficult to find, and can be easily misinterpreted, leading to frustrating moments for users.​

Many resources are standalone and are not centralized making it confusing for users having to juggle different websites to obtain correct information. Examples: TAMU Bus system, TAMU Parking Maps, Aggie Map (Building Location), Google Maps (Navigating), and Events Page.

Centralized System

Centralize all information into one location. These include: Bus System, Parking Lots, Building Names, and Events.

Google Maps Integration

With the integration of google maps users will be able to easily find parking and navigate to buildings.

Real Time Parking

Real Time Parking allows users to easily find what parking lot or garage have available spaces. It also informs the user where they are able to park based on their parking pass and time of year.

Audience

Local

Local's want a quick way to receive information on the bus system, parking, and navigating to buildings.

Design

​A simple to learn and intuitive design that ultimately eradicates unnecessary and/or partially helpful campus navigation resources to centralize information to one source. Users can easily access what they need quickly in a single location, rather than juggle multiple sites.
