Brief Description: At Kansas States Annual Game Jam we were tasked with creating an educational game surrounding the topic of Diabetes. Crunch Crunch the Game focuses on informing diabetic children about how Carbohydrates affect them, a Cause and Effect scenario. The player must keep their energy bar stable by consuming Food Items, these items up your energy level. However, if the player consumes too much it will activate the Alert Mode. Alert Mode turns all food items into red enemies. If you consume a red food item you will gain 1 Obesity Point which in turn increases how quickly your energy levels falls. The more Obesity Points you have the faster your energy will fall. Bad habits will come back and bite you! Just like our Food Monsters. These are high carb intake foods that are running at you during the game. If you run into one of these you gain 1 Obesity Point. Avoiding all food will cause your energy level to deplete. If it goes to 0, it is Game Over. It is important to know when to eat and not to forget. Keeping a consistent schedule helps in managing diabetes as well as playing our game.
